How to use social media to stay visible online
There are so many social media platforms now at our disposal. With thousands of potential contacts and clients on them, it may be surprising to hear, many businesses aren’t embracing the power of social media. In fact, many businesses still don’t know how to use social media to stay visible to their target audience and those that do, are often years behind the marketing trends on social media.
So, how can you effectively use social media, to stay visible online and ahead of the trends?
Get ahead of the curve – be present on social media
With so many businesses not utilising social media, just being present on the different platforms will get you ahead of the competition. Select 2-3 social media platforms to get started and set yourself up a profile and business page (if relevant). Make sure you’re choosing the right platforms for your audience, by researching each platforms demographics, before narrowing down your selection.
Claim your vanity URLs
Most social media platforms allow you to customise your page or profile URL. Not only does this make it easier to share your social media links, it also helps raise the visibility of your business.
Learn the differences in the platforms
Not all social media platforms are the same and each piece of content needs to be tailored to the platform you’re posting it to. Each one will have its own unique requirements, such as image sizing and text lengths, as well as oddities – such as not being able to share a clickable link (Instagram)!
Talk to your ideal audience
If you want your social media feeds to resonate with your audience, you need to talk to them AND in a voice that fits. Take the time to get really clear on your ideal customer avatar and use this, to ensure you’re speaking their language and being visible in the groups and places they’re frequenting.
Be active on social media
It’s not enough to have a profile or page on social media, you need to be active on their too! Each platform has its own ideal frequency for posts, so make sure you’re aware of what they are – and stick to them.
Have a campaign in place
Planning out your content in advance is the only way you’re going to create a compelling campaign. This campaign needs to cover special events, holidays and dates in the calendar year, as well as the different types of post – graphic, text-based, links, images and video etc.
Save time and outsource your social media campaign
If staying present and visible on social media sounds like a lot of work – it is! This is why so many businesses are outsourcing their social media campaigns. Not only does this give you back your time, it also ensures your campaigns are handled well and hit the targets you require.
One of the main ways you can stay visible to your target audience and get in front of potential new clients, is through social media. Being visible on the different social media platforms ensures you’re embracing every online opportunity, to show your business in the best possible light, build client relationships and give your business the best chance of success.
